My platform

The Eight Pillars

A clear, committed agenda for students, families, and educators in Ward 2–3. Every student deserves a school that works for them.

01

Student Achievement

Setting every student up to succeed — academically and beyond.

Strong academic outcomes don't happen by accident. They require well-resourced classrooms, skilled and supported teachers, and a curriculum that keeps pace with a changing world. I'm committed to ensuring every student in Ward 2–3 has the tools and supports to reach their full potential — whatever that potential looks like for them.

  • Advocate for smaller class sizes so teachers can provide genuine, individualized attention to every student
  • Support evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs in the early grades, where strong foundations matter most
  • Push for expanded pathways — including skilled trades, arts, and technology — so every student can discover and develop their strengths
  • Champion continuous professional development for educators so that teaching quality grows alongside student needs
  • Hold the board accountable to improving standardized outcomes without hollowing out curriculum richness or the joy of learning
02

Student Well-Being

Healthy kids learn better. It's that simple.

Mental health, physical wellness, and a sense of belonging are not extras — they are essentials. A student who feels unseen, overwhelmed, or unsafe cannot thrive academically, no matter how good the curriculum is. I will fight for the resources, staff, and programs that support the whole child, not just their test scores.

  • Advocate for more mental health workers, social workers, and child and youth counsellors in every school — not just the largest ones
  • Support anti-stigma programs and open, age-appropriate conversations about mental health across all grade levels
  • Ensure physical education and student nutrition programs receive adequate and protected funding
  • Push for culturally sensitive well-being supports that genuinely reflect the diversity of our Ward 2–3 communities
  • Champion meaningful student voice — students should have a real seat at the table when decisions about their school experience are made
03

School Safety

Every student and staff member deserves to feel safe — every single day.

Safety is the foundation of learning. A child who is afraid cannot focus. A teacher who feels unsupported cannot teach. From bullying prevention to inclusive environments to crisis preparedness, I will ensure our schools are places where everyone feels secure, respected, and genuinely protected.

  • Strengthen and rigorously enforce anti-bullying and anti-harassment policies, with clear consequences and consistent follow-through
  • Support robust safe schools protocols and mandate regular, independent safety reviews across all Ward 2–3 schools
  • Advocate for clear, transparent, and timely public reporting on school incidents — families deserve to know
  • Promote restorative justice approaches that address the root causes of conflict and rebuild relationships — not just punish behaviour
  • Ensure all staff receive adequate, up-to-date training in de-escalation, crisis response, and trauma-informed practice
04

Transparency & Accountability

Trustees work for you — and you deserve to know exactly what's happening.

Public trust in our school board depends on open, honest, and genuinely accessible governance. Too often, important decisions are made behind closed doors, and families only hear about them after the fact. I will be a trustee who shows their work, answers to the community, and never treats public dollars as anything but a public responsibility.

  • Publish clear, plain-language summaries of all board decisions and the reasoning behind them — no jargon, no spin
  • Hold regular community town halls and open Q&A sessions throughout Ward 2–3, not just at election time
  • Advocate for live-streamed board meetings and accessible, searchable archives of all proceedings
  • Push for an independent audit of board spending priorities to ensure money flows to where students need it most
  • Be genuinely accessible — I commit to personally responding to inquiries from parents, students, and community members
05

Responsible Leadership & Fiscal Stewardship

Spend wisely. Lead with integrity. Deliver results.

YRDSB manages hundreds of millions in public dollars. Every cent of that money belongs to the people of York Region, and it must be spent with discipline, transparency, and a laser focus on student outcomes — not administrative bloat or vanity projects. I will bring rigorous oversight and principled decision-making to every budget discussion at the board table.

  • Scrutinize administrative expenditures and advocate to redirect any identified savings directly back to classrooms
  • Advocate for long-term capital planning that prioritizes aging school infrastructure before it becomes a crisis
  • Oppose wasteful spending and demand measurable, public-facing outcomes for every major board investment
  • Support a publicly accessible, real-time budget dashboard so taxpayers can see exactly how their money is being spent
  • Fight to ensure Ward 2–3 receives its fair and proportional share of board resources and capital investment
06

Community Engagement & Partnership

Great schools are built with communities — not just for them.

Families, local businesses, faith communities, and students themselves all have a genuine stake in the success of our schools. I will create real partnerships — not consultation theatre — that bring authentic voices into authentic decisions. When people feel heard, they invest. And when communities invest, schools flourish.

  • Establish a Ward 2–3 Community Advisory Council with rotating seats for parents, students, educators, and community members
  • Engage local businesses and post-secondary institutions as active partners in building student pathways and career-readiness programs
  • Build stronger, trust-based connections with Indigenous, newcomer, and equity-deserving communities across the ward
  • Host multilingual community information sessions so that no family — regardless of language — is left out of the conversation
  • Report back publicly and specifically on how community input shaped board decisions — closing the feedback loop, every time
07

Equitable Funding & Inclusive Education

Equity means every student gets what they need — not just the same thing.

Not all students start from the same place, and our funding models and programs must honestly reflect that reality. Equity is not about lowering expectations — it's about removing the barriers that prevent some students from meeting them. I will advocate relentlessly for targeted investment in the students who face the greatest challenges.

  • Fight for needs-based funding formulas that direct greater resources to higher-needs schools and student populations
  • Expand and actively protect special education supports, resource teacher positions, and individualized programming
  • Advocate for full, meaningful implementation of the YRDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan's equity commitments — not just on paper
  • Support newcomer and English Language Learner programs with adequate staffing, materials, and transition supports
  • Ensure gifted and enrichment programs are equitably accessible to students from all backgrounds and postal codes
08

Modern Learning Tools & Future-Ready Schools

Preparing students for a world that didn't exist when our policies were written.

Artificial intelligence, digital literacy, climate resilience, and skilled trades are actively shaping the future of work and life. Our schools must evolve with purpose and with care. I will champion smart, responsible adoption of technology and innovation in YRDSB — while keeping human connection and critical thinking firmly at the centre of learning.

  • Develop a clear, board-wide digital literacy and AI literacy curriculum framework appropriate to each grade level
  • Ensure equitable access to devices and reliable internet connectivity for all students — including at home, where gaps widen fastest
  • Advocate for skilled trades and technology programs in every secondary school, with pathways that lead to real credentials and careers
  • Support green school infrastructure — solar energy, energy efficiency retrofits, and climate-resilient design — for schools built to last
  • Partner with local industry and post-secondary institutions to bring real-world, applied learning directly into YRDSB classrooms
